I don’t want to comment too much on ball jointed dolls, because I’ve honestly only had fantasies of getting one. I can imagine it being a highly addictive hobby for me which could potentially be dangerous. I have longed to have my own BJD for a while, so my research is pretty extensive. In fact, I was having one of those nights last night where I felt the urge to get a BJD doll. With many “Ah’s”, “Oh’s”, and heavy sighs I stared at all the gorgeous hand made outfits on Etsy. That’s when I ran into Candy Smoothie! Her Etsy store was unique because I’ve never seen dolls with these kinds of features. A bonus is that they are made with resin and come with the outfits that are shown in the pictures. Check these out!
All the lace flowing from this Tria doll in a baby pink set is gorgeous. Her facial features seem more realistic than the BJD dolls I have looked at in other places. I can see her being a gnome even in a little home made garden. Inside of course, there’s no way I’m keeping her outside!
I’m not sure if I like the sleep eyes for this Tria doll in a baby blue set. It would be a cute idea as a gift for a mother of a newborn, who collects dolls. Her over sized bonnet and jacket is really precious! She looks like she is walking through a wind storm. I’m not sure if I like blue or pink better, what about you guys?
I want to mention that the head is an original, while the doll body is an Obitsu11 doll body. I love the chubby cheeks on this Candy Smoothie original. This would have been a really cute gift to give someone on Easter. Not a little one, but a relative who is a collector of dolls. The flowers and lace going through her hair make her even more adorable.
My cousins had a pair of dolls like this Unua pink doll trunk set and this Unua sky blue doll trunk set. It’s fun to get siblings a similar doll but in different colors. If they were to play with them (I don’t recommend it, they’re supposed to be looked at with awe!) then they wouldn’t have to share. With how much BJD dolls are normally and their outfits, I feel like both of these are a great deal. They are a fantastic gift idea for a collector or even just a keepsake.
This looks like a little Alice in Wonderland doll. Even her expression is a little bewildered like how Alice’s face is described in the book. This is actually called a Dua doll and her whole body and head are one of a kind. I would check up to see if she really is 8 cm tall, because that is tiny!
